Common Issues + Fixes

Nasal Strips

Why it happens:

  • Skin not completely dry
  • Oils, moisturiser, sunscreen
  • Not pressing long enough
  • Incorrect size

Fix: Wash → dry → quick alcohol wipe → apply firmly for 10–15 seconds.

Make sure you’ve watched the application video above. When applied correctly, the strip should be difficult to remove in the morning without warm water or a shower.

Why it happens:

  • Wrong size (too small = too much tension, too big = edges not anchored)
  • Strip placed too high or too low
  • Ends not sitting evenly on firm skin

Fixes:

  • Strips that come in multiple sizes include 2 sample strips of the opposite size so you can test your fit.
  • Check your size (Small vs Regular), and reapply so both ends sit flat on firm, dry skin.
  • Smooth the edges and hold for 10–15 seconds.
  • Watch the sizing video above for a clear breakdown of fit, placement and how to tell if you need a different size.

Why it happens:

  • New users: mild discomfort for first 2–3 uses
  • Skin not cleaned properly
  • Strip sitting on softer skin
  • Uneven tension
  • Removing dry
  • Fixes:
  • Clean well, place slightly higher, check tension, remove with warm water.
  • Watch the application video for correct placement and removal.

It took us a while to pinpoint this one. The main cause is applying the strip right before training without properly washing and drying your nose.

Fix: Don’t get complacent just because you’re out and about.

  • Wash with water
  • Dry thoroughly (like wiping sunscreen off)
  • Apply immediately and press firmly for 10-15secsonds.

Why: This is usually the nasal cycle, where one side naturally opens and closes throughout the night. The strip is lifting both sides, but the airflow difference can still be noticeable.

Fix:

  • Clear your nose before applying (rinse or warm water works).
  • Angle the strip slightly toward the side that feels tighter to give that nostril more lift.
  • If congestion is the cause, pair with mouth tape at night to stop mouth breathing from overriding the lift.

Why: The strip applies mechanical tension across the bridge, so waking up with a light imprint or temporary line is normal — similar to marks from sleep masks or CPAP straps.

Fix:

  • Remove with warm water so the adhesive releases cleanly.
  • Marks usually fade within minutes; moisturise after removal if the skin feels dry.
  • If the imprint feels too strong, shift the placement slightly higher or lower next time.

Mouth Tape

  • Usually caused by oils, moisturiser or saliva at the corners of the mouth.
  • Make sure the skin is clean and fully dry, especially the edges.
  • Trim upper-lip hair if needed.
  • Press the tape down firmly for a full seal.

Happens when the nose is congested or airflow is low.

Clear your nose before bed or use a nozey strip at the same time.

  • Usually a technique issue.
  • Dry the skin properly, press the centre first, then smooth outward.
  • Avoid moisturiser or lip balm for a few hours before bed.
  • Normal when switching to nasal-only breathing.
  • Start with 10–20 minutes while awake and build up gradually.
  • Pair with a nasal strip to increase airflow.
  • Adhesive bonds strongly with warm overnight skin.
  • Remove in warm water and wipe with a damp cloth after.
